About Techcake, a DevOps training institute built by practitioners
Techcake is a DevOps training institute in Taliparamba, Kannur, Kerala, run by Techcake Cloud Innovations LLP. Classes are taught by working engineers, the curriculum is designed by a founder with 17+ years in production cloud systems, and the longer programmes end in mentored project-based training on real work. We run one Career Program, two standalone courses, three project-based training programmes and college tie-ups. That is the whole catalogue, and this page explains who runs it and why.
Why Techcake exists.
Techcake exists because certificates and day-one competence are not the same thing. The institute was started by Jobin Joseph after 17+ years of running production cloud systems for Indian and international clients, and after years of interviewing freshers for entry-level engineering roles.
When Jobin founded his cloud consulting company, hiring became part of his week. The same pattern turned up in every round. Candidates had course certificates. Many had portfolio projects. Some had cleared vendor exams. But when asked to reason through a failing deployment, a misconfigured security group or a disk that was filling up at 2 am, most could not. The toolchain looked right on the resume. The engineering judgment was missing.
That gap is what Techcake was built to close. Instead of teaching tools in isolation, the curriculum was written backwards from the work a junior DevOps engineer is actually asked to do in the first six months of a job. Instead of full-time trainers, the people in front of the class are practitioners who ship for a living. And instead of a final exam, the longer programmes finish with months of mentored project work on production-grade systems.
Techcake is deliberately small. It is not the largest institute in Kerala and it does not try to be. Every student is known by name, and the career support at the end is one to one rather than a broadcast to a cohort.
The model.
- Practitioner-led. Classes are taught by working engineers, not by trainers whose only job is training. The DevOps programme is led by Amitha, and industry mentors join batches as guests to review work and describe what the job looks like from the inside.
- Partner-directed. The project-based training phases are shaped with real companies. Our industry partner (an AWS consulting company) directs the DevOps and cloud project work, and our web agency partner directs the Full Stack project work. We keep partner names off marketing pages until we have written agreement to publish them, and we never borrow a partner's credentials as our own. Techcake is a training institute; the partner status belongs to the partner.
- Project-led. Theory is introduced when you hit it, not in a separate block weeks before you need it. In the DevOps Engineer Career Program, the first four months are training and the next six months are six production projects, from a Linux infrastructure build through to Kubernetes on EKS and Terraform with observability. The three standalone project-based training programmes in DevOps, Cybersecurity and Full Stack follow the same idea on Techcake premises in Kannur.
We are also honest about scope. There is no job guarantee and no pay-after-placement scheme. Our Linux System Administration course follows the RHCSA syllabus but is not Red Hat exam preparation, and we do not coordinate exams. If a claim cannot be verified, we do not make it.
The person who designs what gets taught.
Jobin Joseph.
Jobin Joseph is the Founder, CEO and Curriculum Architect of Techcake. He has spent 17+ years running production cloud systems for Indian and international clients, and he founded his cloud consulting company before starting the institute.
Jobin personally holds the following certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE). These are his own credentials. They inform the curriculum, but they are not institutional badges and Techcake does not present itself as an AWS or Red Hat partner.
At Techcake, Jobin designs the curriculum, sets the technical direction, hires the practitioner faculty and maintains the mentor network. Day-to-day classes are delivered by the trainer roster below. His consulting work continues alongside the institute, and the problems he sees in production feed back into what gets taught.
The team that runs the institute.
Two people lead the institute alongside the founder, and a core team of four runs design, growth and student-facing operations.
Twenty years in business leadership, IT consulting and international trade. Varughese brings strategy, operations and market growth experience to Techcake.
Anjala heads day-to-day operations: admissions, batch scheduling, student success and the systems that keep the institute running from the first enquiry to graduation.
Eighteen years of design experience. Sanoj sets Techcake’s brand and design direction and runs growth and outreach, combining creative work with strategy.
Coordinates HR and people operations, including recruitment, onboarding and the daily administration that keeps batches running.
Guides students on career direction, resume building and interview readiness as part of Techcake’s career support.
Counsels prospective and current students on choosing the right programme and staying on track.
The people who teach the classes.
Techcake's trainers are working engineers who teach what they use at work. New trainers join as batch sizes grow, but the rule stays the same: the person in front of the class ships for a living.
Amitha leads the DevOps programme, designing and delivering hands-on sessions across Linux, Docker, CI/CD, AWS and Terraform, covering the four-month DevOps Engineer course and Phase 1 of the Career Program.

Engineers who come back to teach.
Industry mentors are engineers working in production environments in India and overseas who join Techcake batches as guests. They review student projects, explain what a senior role looks like day to day and open doors into wider industry networks.
Working engineer based in Kuwait. Nishad brings Middle East industry exposure and technical depth to batches as a guest mentor.
SRE Lead at an airline in Malaysia. Prajith mentors students on production reliability engineering and on what a senior SRE role actually involves.

How the catalogue grew.
