Linux Training in Kerala: RHCSA Syllabus, 3 Months

Techcake runs a 3 month Linux administration course from its campus in Taliparamba, Kannur, and online live for students in Kochi, Calicut, Trivandrum and Thrissur. The course follows the RHCSA syllabus: command line, users and permissions, storage and LVM, networking, SSH, systemd, security and shell scripting. It is not Red Hat exam preparation and Techcake does not coordinate exams.

Searching for Linux training in Kerala

If you are searching for Linux training in Kerala, a Linux course in Kerala, or RHCSA training in Kerala, you are usually a fresher who has heard that DevOps starts with Linux, a support engineer who has been handed a Linux server at work, or a student heading for cybersecurity or cloud.

All three need a Linux administration course that teaches the model behind the commands, with enough lab time that the commands become habit. That is what our Linux System Administration course does; this page is the Kerala-wide view of it, and the course page carries the week-by-week syllabus.

Why Linux first for DevOps and cloud

Every DevOps tool runs on Linux, and every cloud server you will touch is a Linux server underneath. Docker containers are Linux processes with namespaces around them. Kubernetes nodes are Linux machines. An AWS EC2 instance is a Linux virtual machine you reach over SSH. If you cannot read a permission string or work out why a disk is full, none of those tools make sense.

That is why a Linux course for DevOps is the right first step, not a detour. Employers in Kochi, Calicut and Trivandrum test Linux basics early in a DevOps interview because it shows whether the rest of the resume is real. Kerala's IT Policy 2026 targets 5 lakh new jobs in IT and allied sectors, and the infrastructure side of that growth runs on Linux (Kerala IT Policy 2026).

If AWS is your goal, read the AWS training in Kerala page next. The order is the same: Linux, then containers and pipelines, then cloud.

What the 3 month course covers

The course runs 12 weeks and follows the RHCSA syllabus topic by topic. If you are looking for the RHCSA course syllabus and duration, this is the plain answer: the skill areas are the RHCSA skill areas, the duration is 3 months, and assessment is practical every week.

The topics, grouped the way we teach them:

  • Command line and files. Shell basics, the file system, manual pages, redirection and pipes, vi, links, finding and archiving files.
  • Users, groups and permissions. Account management, password policy, sudo, special permissions, access control lists, umask.
  • Processes, services and boot. Process control, cron, systemd units and targets, journal logs, package management, GRUB, recovering a system that will not boot.
  • Storage and LVM. Partitions, file systems, fstab, swap, physical and logical volumes, extending volumes online, snapshots.
  • Networking and SSH. IP addressing, name resolution, routing basics, troubleshooting tools, key-based SSH, hardening the SSH daemon.
  • Security. Firewall configuration, SELinux modes and contexts, log review, safe updates.
  • Shell scripting. Variables, conditionals, loops, functions, exit codes, automating the earlier weeks' tasks.
  • Final build. A hardened, documented, scripted server from a blank virtual machine, presented as a runbook.

Each student has a personal Linux virtual machine with root access and snapshots.

How module 01 of the DevOps course reuses it

The 4 month DevOps Engineer course opens with module 01, Linux and Networking Foundations, a compressed revision of the same syllabus. Students arriving from the 3 month Linux course move through module 01 quickly and spend their attention on Docker, CI/CD and AWS in modules 02 to 04.

Students who skip Linux can still succeed in the DevOps course, but they learn Linux and Docker at the same time. The same foundation carries into Phase 2 of the DevOps Engineer Career Program, where the first production project is a Linux infrastructure build.

RHCSA, RHCE and other certifications

People who search for RHCSA and RHCE together want to know what each is and whether a course like ours gets them the credential.

RHCSA (EX200). The Red Hat Certified System Administrator exam is performance based: you complete tasks on a live system rather than answer multiple choice questions. The current exam is on RHEL 10, and Red Hat's own preparation courses are RH124 System Administration I and RH134 System Administration II (EX200 on redhat.com). Our course covers the same skill areas, which is why we say it follows the RHCSA syllabus.

RHCE (EX294). The Red Hat Certified Engineer exam is Ansible based and assumes RHCSA-level administration (EX294 on redhat.com). RHCSA is the prerequisite for RHCE. An RHCE track is not currently offered at Techcake.

What Techcake is and is not. Techcake's Linux course is not Red Hat exam preparation and Techcake does not coordinate Red Hat exams. You finish with a Techcake training completion certificate. If you want the RHCSA credential, you register with Red Hat directly and sit EX200 on your own. The India price is shown on redhat.com after choosing your country.

LFCS as a comparison. The Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator exam is a vendor-neutral alternative priced at USD 445 (LFCS on training.linuxfoundation.org). Some students prefer it because it is not tied to one distribution.

Our advice: finish the course, get a job or a project-based training seat, then decide whether an exam fee is worth it. The AWS certification cost in India guide applies the same reasoning to cloud exams.

Modes and cities

You can take the Linux course in three modes: Online Live, Hybrid, and Offline at the Taliparamba campus. The lab is identical in every mode because it is a virtual machine you reach from your own laptop.

Online Live for Kochi, Calicut, Trivandrum and Thrissur. Most Linux students outside Kannur district attend online live: scheduled classes with the trainer on screen and your terminal open, not recorded videos. The DevOps training in Kerala page has city pages with local job context.

Campus in Kannur. The Techcake campus is on the 3rd floor of SM Tower, Taliparamba, Kannur, Kerala 670141. Offline students use the lab machines in class and can stay after. Calicut is the closest metro, roughly 2 hours by road, so some Calicut students choose hybrid.

Duration and how much Linux training costs

The course is 3 months, 12 weeks, with lab work every week, in all three modes.

We do not publish fees on this page. Fees and EMI options are shared on a free counsellor call, because the right number depends on the mode and whether you combine Linux with the DevOps course or the Career Program. EMI is available. When you compare Linux training costs in Kerala, ask any provider two questions: does every student get a personal lab machine for the full duration, and is the assessment practical or written. The admissions page lists the enrolment steps.

The Linux to DevOps path

Linux is the floor of a DevOps career, not the whole building. The next layers are containers, pipelines, cloud and infrastructure as code, and each assumes the one below.

At Techcake the path is: the 3 month Linux course, then the 4 month DevOps Engineer course, then either the 6 month DevOps project-based training on campus in Kannur or the 10 month Career Program, which bundles the DevOps course and six production projects.

Our Linux to DevOps path guide covers timelines, what to practise between courses, and what interviewers ask at each stage. The DevOps roadmap for freshers and learn DevOps in 3 months guides cover the same road from other starting points, and DevOps for non-IT graduates is for readers worried about coding. Students aiming at security take the same first step: our Cybersecurity project-based training expects basic Linux on day one.

Who teaches

Classes are taught by Amitha, Program Lead for DevOps at Techcake, with 2 years of experience. She runs the Linux course and module 01 of the DevOps course, which is why the two line up so closely.

The curriculum is designed by Jobin Joseph, Techcake's founder and curriculum architect, with 15+ years running production cloud systems. Jobin holds AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Security Specialty and RHCE, all his own. That RHCE background is one reason the course follows the Red Hat skill areas rather than a generic desktop Linux outline. Industry mentors join students on the project-based training side; see the mentors page.

Career support

Career support is the same for every Techcake course: a 1-on-1 resume review with a working engineer, a LinkedIn profile rebuild, recorded and debriefed technical and HR mock interviews, alumni Slack and WhatsApp groups, and direct referrals through the mentor network.

There is no job guarantee, and Techcake is not pay-after-placement. For a Linux-only student the realistic outcomes are junior system administrator, support engineer or NOC roles; the stronger route is to continue into DevOps. See the reviews page and the DevOps salary in Kerala guide.

Frequently asked

Frequently asked questions

Is RHCSA worth it?
RHCSA is a widely recognised entry credential for Linux administrators and it is performance based, so employers trust it. Whether the exam fee is worth it depends on your target role. Many DevOps employers care more about what you can do on a server than about the certificate, which is why we teach the syllabus without positioning the course as exam preparation.
Can I do Linux training online?
Yes. The course runs online live with the same personal lab virtual machine that campus students use. Students in Kochi, Calicut, Trivandrum and Thrissur mostly attend this way.
Do I get a Linux course with certificate?
You receive a Techcake training completion certificate when you finish the course and the final server build. It is not a Red Hat certificate. RHCSA and RHCE are Red Hat credentials you earn by sitting Red Hat's exams yourself.
What is the best Linux training in Kannur?
We cannot rank providers for you, but here are the facts about ours: a 3 month course on the RHCSA syllabus, a personal lab virtual machine per student, practical assessment every week, a campus in Taliparamba, and a Google rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 226 reviews (Google Maps). Compare those points and choose.
Is this a Linux internship?
No. It is a 3 month training course. If you are searching for a Linux or DevOps internship in Kerala, the internships page explains what Techcake runs instead and why.
