Searching for a DevOps or AWS internship in Kerala
Most students who reach this page searched for "devops internship kochi", "aws internship in kerala" or "internship in kannur". The short answer: Techcake is a training institute, not an employer, so we cannot honestly call anything we run an internship. What we can give you is the part of an internship that matters to a hiring manager: months of supervised, hands-on work on production-style systems.
Kerala's IT employment sits mostly in Kochi, Trivandrum and Calicut. The Kerala IT Policy 2026 sets a target of 5 lakh new jobs in IT and allied sectors (Government of Kerala). Kannur has no large IT park, so students from Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad and Calicut search for an internship in a bigger city and find very few DevOps openings for freshers. DevOps and cloud teams rarely take interns because a fresher cannot be given access to production infrastructure on day one.
That leaves two realistic options: a general software internship where you may not touch DevOps at all, or structured training that builds the portfolio a DevOps interviewer will ask about. What a typical fresher internship in Kerala looks like
A typical fresher internship in Kerala is short, unpaid or lightly paid, and thin on real work. It usually runs 2 to 8 weeks, is arranged to satisfy a college requirement, and the intern spends much of it observing a team rather than shipping anything. In an interview you will be asked what you built, and "I watched the deployment process" is not an answer.
Three common patterns, none named here because the pattern matters more than the organisation:
- The observation internship. You sit with a team, attend stand-ups, take notes and receive a certificate. No repository, no server, no ticket with your name on it.
- The training sold as an internship. A classroom course with an "internship certificate" stapled on. The word is used for search traffic; the content is a course. Sometimes a good course, but the label is misleading.
- The tool-of-the-week internship. Docker in week one, Jenkins in week two, AWS in week three, with no time to break anything and fix it. You come out with a list of names, not a skill.
A fresher usually cannot tell these apart from a real engineering internship until it is over. The stakes are real: the India Skills Report 2026 puts BE/BTech employability at about 70 percent and Computer Science at about 80 percent, as reported by Careers360. The gap between a degree and a job is filled by evidence of work, and a two-week observation letter is weak evidence.
What Techcake runs instead
Techcake runs three mentored project-based training tracks on campus in Taliparamba, Kannur. Every track has a published syllabus, a mentor who reviews your work, and a deliverable due each month. You work on our lab infrastructure with someone whose job is to check what you built and send it back when it is not right.
DevOps project-based training, 6 months. For students who already have DevOps fundamentals. Six tracks: production Linux and networking, containers and orchestration, CI/CD, AWS cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, and observability. Each track ends in a working system you can demonstrate. If you do not yet have the fundamentals, start with the DevOps Engineer course (4 months, beginner-friendly), or take both together in the DevOps Engineer Career Program, where the 6 months of projects form Phase 2.
Cybersecurity project-based training, 4 months. Four monthly sessions: Linux and cybersecurity foundations; web and API penetration testing with Burp Suite; wireless, hardware and recon; and a final month of real-time assessments and security reporting with Python and Bash automation. Eligibility requires basic Linux, networking and web knowledge and awareness of the OWASP Top 10.
Full Stack project-based training, 6 months. Python and Django. Months 1 to 4 cover Python, Django and Django REST Framework, month 5 is a guided project and month 6 is your own project under a mentor. Basic programming logic is the only prerequisite. The WordPress programme we once ran is no longer offered.

For college students
If you are a second, third or final year student who needs a letter for project or industrial training credit, Techcake issues a completion letter on letterhead stating the programme and the dates. Most colleges accept it as institutional or industrial training. Ask your department what wording and minimum hours they need before you enrol, and share that with your counsellor so we record the right things.

For final year and fresh graduates
If you have graduated or are about to, the question is the interview, not the letter. You leave with a portfolio of production-style projects, a rewritten resume and LinkedIn profile, recorded technical and HR mock interviews with a debrief, access to the alumni Slack and WhatsApp groups, and direct referrals through the mentor network when a role fits.
