Who teaches and mentors

Techcake classes are taught by a small trainer roster and backed by industry mentors who work as engineers today. Every project you build during project-based training is reviewed by a mentor, not marked by a script. Batches are kept small so a trainer knows every student by name. This page lists who teaches, who mentors, and who designs the curriculum.

The mentoring model

Techcake follows one model across every programme: working engineers teach, mentors review your projects, and batches stay small. The aim is that you finish with work you can explain in an interview, not a folder of unread certificates.

Working engineers. The people who teach and mentor at Techcake run or have run production systems. When a trainer explains a Kubernetes rollout or a Django deployment, it is from something they did at work, not a slide they were handed.

Reviewed projects. In the six-month phase of the DevOps Engineer Career Program and in every project-based training track, you submit real deliverables: a Linux server build, a CI/CD pipeline, a Terraform module, a Django REST API. A mentor reviews each one, sends it back with notes, and signs off only when it would pass at a workplace.

Small batches. Trainers keep batches small enough that doubts get answered in the same session. This also means the trainer sees your work regularly and can tell when you are stuck before you do.

Trainers

Our trainers lead the day-to-day classes. The curriculum is designed by our curriculum architect (see below) and delivered by this roster.

Amitha, Program Lead, DevOps

Amitha leads the DevOps programmes: the four-month DevOps Engineer course, Phase 1 of the Career Program, and the Linux System Administration course. She teaches Linux and networking foundations, Docker, Git and CI/CD with Jenkins and GitHub Actions, and AWS cloud with Terraform. She also supervises project reviews in the DevOps project-based training.

  • Role: Program Lead, DevOps
  • Teaches: Linux, networking, containers, CI/CD, AWS, Infrastructure as Code

Muhsin, Program Lead, Full Stack Development

Muhsin leads the six-month Full Stack project-based training, built on Python and Django. He teaches Python and web foundations, Django development, advanced Django, and APIs with Django REST Framework, then guides students through the guided project in month five and their own project in month six.

  • Role: Program Lead, Full Stack Development
  • Teaches: Python, Django, Django REST Framework, project structure and deployment

Cybersecurity

The mentor roster for the Cybersecurity project-based training is being updated. Ask on the counsellor call for the current mentor for the next intake.

Industry mentors

Industry mentors are engineers in full-time jobs outside Techcake. They review student projects, run mock interviews, and are the first link in the referral network that career support draws on.

Nishad Salam

Nishad Salam is a working engineer based in Kuwait. He reviews DevOps and cloud projects and takes technical mock interviews with Career Program students.

Prajith P

Prajith P is an SRE Lead at an airline in Malaysia. He reviews production infrastructure, Kubernetes and observability projects, and advises on how reliability work is actually assessed in hiring.

Curriculum architect

Jobin Joseph, Founder, CEO and Curriculum Architect

Jobin Joseph designs every Techcake syllabus and decides which projects go into each phase. He has 15+ years of experience running production cloud systems for Indian and international clients and founded his cloud consulting company. He holds the AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Security Specialty and RHCE certifications. Classes are taught by the trainer roster above; Jobin's role is the curriculum, the project standards and the review rubric.

A note on employer names

We list a mentor's employer only after the mentor and their employer have given written consent. Until then we describe the role and location and leave the company name out. This is the same standard we apply to alumni placements.

Frequently asked

Frequently asked questions

Who teaches at Techcake?
Classes are led by two Program Leads, Amitha for DevOps and Linux and Muhsin for Full Stack Development, with project reviews and mock interviews from industry mentors who work as engineers abroad. The curriculum is designed by founder Jobin Joseph.
Are the trainers full-time?
The Program Leads are Techcake staff and run the classes on campus and online. Industry mentors are working engineers in full-time roles elsewhere and contribute project reviews, mock interviews and referrals alongside their jobs.
Can I meet a mentor before joining?
Yes. Book a free counsellor call through the WhatsApp form, and ask to speak with the Program Lead for your programme. Where the trainer is available you can join a short conversation before you pay any deposit.
