Calicut is the closest metro to Techcake's campus, about 90 km and roughly 2 hours from Taliparamba, so students from Kozhikode have options that students in Kochi or Trivandrum do not: weekend classroom attendance, a hybrid schedule with regular campus days, or fully online live. Techcake has no centre in Calicut. The 10 month Career Program's project phase runs on our Kannur campus, which from Kozhikode is a commute rather than a relocation.
The distance changes the maths. From Kozhikode, Vadakara or Koyilandy, the Kannur campus is reachable by train or bus in about two hours, which means a Saturday classroom session is a day trip and a hybrid schedule with one campus day a week is realistic.
For the 4 month course, most Calicut students choose one of two patterns. The first is online live on weekday evenings with the trainer, and one classroom day at Taliparamba on the weekend for labs and doubts. The second is fully online live, with campus visits only for the Docker and Kubernetes weeks.
For the Career Program, Phase 2 is on campus for six months. Students from Calicut generally do not shift to Kannur; they travel up on project days and work remotely on the rest, or take a room near the campus during the heavier project weeks such as the EKS deployment. Either way, being two hours from the mentors from our industry partner (an AWS consulting company) means a broken pipeline gets looked at in person the same week, not over screenshots.
The campus adds the lab you can sit in after class, the trainer you can catch during a break, and the other students in the batch. Online live gives you the syllabus; the campus gives you the people. From Calicut you can have a fair amount of both.
Kozhikode's IT employment is concentrated at Government Cyberpark and UL CyberPark, and the roles are fewer than Kochi but real. On Indeed and Glassdoor in September 2026, Ontash Systems at Government Cyber Park is hiring a Junior System Admin and DevOps Engineer, open to freshers, with Git, Jenkins, Docker, Nginx, Nagios and Linux in the description. TechBrein Solutions in Calicut lists a Senior DevOps Engineer role on AWS. Agileblaze, a Calicut product engineering company, has a DevOps Engineer posting that asks for cloud architectures with high availability and no single point of failure. Alhind Tours and Travels, one of the city's larger non-IT employers, is advertising an AWS DevOps Engineer for its own platform, and Tahr Tech Studio lists both DevOps Engineer and entry-level DevOps openings.
Read those five together and the shape of the local market is clear. Kozhikode has a handful of product and services companies hiring DevOps engineers directly, and a growing number of non-IT businesses, from travel to retail, who run their own AWS stack and need someone to look after it. Ontash's posting is notable because it is one of the few fresher-level DevOps roles advertised anywhere in Kerala, and it asks for exactly what the first three modules of our course teach.
The limit is volume. If you want a wide choice of employers you will end up interviewing in Kochi or Bengaluru as well, and the portfolio from the Career Program is built to travel.
The 4 month DevOps Engineer course has four modules: Linux and Networking Foundations; Containers with Docker; CI/CD and Automation with Git, Jenkins and GitHub Actions; and AWS Cloud with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. It is designed for beginners.
The 10 month DevOps Engineer Career Program is that course plus six months of mentored production projects at the campus: Linux infrastructure, Docker stack, CI/CD pipeline, AWS migration, Kubernetes on EKS, and Terraform with Prometheus and Grafana. You finish with six projects, a rewritten resume and LinkedIn profile, recorded mock interviews and referrals.
Working engineers in Kozhikode who already have the fundamentals can join the standalone six month DevOps project-based training. Complete beginners should look first at the 3 month Linux System Administration course. All modes and cities are compared on the Kerala DevOps training page.
You are in the final year at an engineering college around Kozhikode and want a portfolio before placements season. You are a system administrator at a Cyberpark company, comfortable with Linux, and want to add Docker, AWS and Kubernetes to move into a DevOps title. You are running IT for a trading or retail business in the city and have been handed an AWS bill you do not fully understand. You are a Malabar native working in the Gulf, planning to return, and want a skill that both Kozhikode and Kochi employers advertise for.
It fits less well if your only free time is late night, since the live batches follow evening and weekend schedules and the campus days are during the day.
Two hours from the campus is close enough to visit before you decide. Talk to a counsellor on WhatsApp or call +91 9544 95 7747 to fix a time, hear the fees and EMI options, and get the next batch date.
