Why not just call it an internship? Because the word has been hollowed out. Most DevOps internships open to freshers in Kerala mean watching a senior engineer's screen for a few weeks and leaving with a letter. This is not a beginner programme. Before you join, you should be comfortable with the Linux command line, understand basic networking, have used Git, and have at least built and run a Docker container. You should know what a CI/CD pipeline is for even if you have never built one in production, and you should have some exposure to AWS.

If you are starting from zero, do not apply here directly. The DevOps Engineer course covers the fundamentals in four months, and the DevOps Engineer Career Program combines that course with this project phase as a single 10-month track. If your gap is specifically Linux, the Linux System Administration course is the right first step. The counsellor call will tell you honestly where to start.

Track A: Production Linux and networking. Multi-server Linux infrastructure, hardening, SSH and firewall configuration, logging and monitoring, and the operational basics every production system depends on.

Track B: Containers and orchestration. Containerising real applications with Docker, Docker Compose, container registries, and introductory Kubernetes work on managed clusters.

Track C: CI/CD pipelines. Building, debugging, and extending real Jenkins and GitHub Actions pipelines: automated tests, build artifacts, deployment strategies, and rollback handling.

Track D: AWS cloud infrastructure. Core AWS services (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, ALB) applied to live workloads, with cost awareness, security baselines, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework in practice.

Track E: Infrastructure as Code. Terraform modules for real infrastructure, Ansible roles for configuration management, and the GitOps patterns used in real client engagements.

Track F: Observability and reliability. Prometheus, Grafana, log aggregation, alerting, and the SRE-style work of keeping systems up and knowing quickly when they are not.

The exact mix of projects depends on what the mentor team is working on that quarter, and allocations are made at intake based on your skill profile. The same six tracks form Phase 2 of the DevOps Engineer Career Program, where they run as six fixed production projects over 25 weeks.

On successful completion, Techcake issues a training completion certificate on its letterhead. It documents the tracks you worked through and the projects you delivered, and an employer can call us to verify it. It is not a participation slip.

Your portfolio is the more important output: repositories, pipeline configurations, Terraform code, dashboards, and the documentation to go with them. This is what you show in an interview.
