Frequently asked

Questions, answered honestly.

The questions students, parents, and college admins ask most often, sorted by topic. If your question isn't here, the counsellor call answers most things in a few minutes.

About the institute.

What is Techcake?
Techcake (Techcake Cloud Innovations LLP) is an IT training institute in Kannur, Kerala, focused on producing DevOps engineers. Our flagship is a 10-month Career Program; we also offer standalone courses and industry project-based trainings.
Where is the campus?
3rd Floor, SM Tower, Taliparamba, Kannur, Kerala 670141. About 25 km from Kannur city, ~45 km from Kannur airport.
Who founded Techcake?
Jobin Joseph, an AWS-certified architect with 15+ years in production cloud systems. His own engineering ventures inform the curriculum and the mentor network that guides the 6-month project-based training phase.
Does Techcake claim any partner credentials?
No. Techcake is an IT training institute. The 6-month project-based training programs are mentored by experienced working engineers from production environments. Partner identities and arrangements are kept off public marketing pages until we have written agreement to be named publicly.

About the Career Program.

What is the DevOps Engineer Career Program?
A 10-month flagship: 4 months of DevOps Engineer training, then a 6-month project-based training phase mentored by experienced working engineers, structured as six real production projects. From zero to job-ready DevOps engineer with a portfolio.
Who directs the program phase?
An experienced DevOps and cloud team. Their working engineers come to Techcake premises and direct the six project deliverables alongside students.
Can I do just the training without the program?
Yes, the standalone 4-month DevOps Engineer course is the same curriculum as Phase 1 of the Career Program.
Do I need prior experience for the Career Program?
No. The Career Program is built for zero-to-engineer progression, no prior DevOps required.

Standalone courses.

What courses does Techcake offer outside the Career Program?
Two standalone training courses: DevOps Engineer (4 months) and Linux System Administration (3 months).
Does the Linux course include RHCSA certification?
No. The course follows the RHCSA syllabus, but Techcake does not coordinate the Red Hat certification exam, and exam fees are not included. Students who want the certification pursue it directly with Red Hat after the course.
What certificate do I get?
A Techcake course completion certificate documenting the curriculum, duration, and your performance. It is not a vendor certification.

Standalone project training.

What standalone project training programs are offered?
Three: DevOps, Cybersecurity, and Full Stack. All are 6 months, on Techcake premises.
Are the programs paid?
No, they are learning programs, not paid employment. The objective is industry exposure, a portfolio, and a named-partner training completion certificate that helps you land a paid role afterwards.
Who mentors the Cybersecurity project training?
Experienced working engineers, security practitioners with hands-on cloud experience. A structured cybersecurity project-based training program with named mentor sign-off is rare in Kerala, that's part of why this program exists.
What if I don't have the prerequisites yet?
Talk to the counsellor honestly. We'd rather suggest the right starting point (a course first, or the Career Program) than place you into an internship you'll struggle to keep up with.

A note on the word "internship".

Is the 6-month phase an internship?
Honestly, no. The 6-month phase (in the Career Program, and the three standalone 6-month programs) is a project-based training program, not an internship. There's no employment relationship and no employer of record. We're upfront about that because the difference matters. What these programs do is build the same skills and portfolio that an internship would, structured, mentor-reviewed production work that prepares you for DevOps, Cybersecurity, or Full Stack internship and junior-engineer roles afterwards.
Then why does the site mention "internship" in places?
Because that's the word most candidates and parents search for, and it's how they think about this stage of their career. We use the word in headings of FAQs like this one, in meta descriptions, and in honest contextual lines like "if you're looking for an internship, this is what we'd recommend instead." We do not use it as the product name. The product is project-based training.

Modes & logistics.

What learning modes are available?
Online Live, scheduled live classes joined remotely. Hybrid, recorded core + live doubt-clearing, designed for working professionals. Offline, in-person at the Kannur campus.
Are internships available online?
No, internships run on-site at the Kannur campus. The mentor feedback loop doesn't work well remotely at an internship stage.
How many hours a week should I commit?
Courses: ~8–10 hours/week including practice. Career Program (during training): ~10–15 hours/week. Internship phase: a full-time, on-site commitment.

Fees & payment.

What does each program cost?
We don't publish fees on the website. On a free counsellor call we'll walk through the fee, EMI options, and any current intake offers, and help you pick the right program. Reserve Your Seat to start the conversation.
Is EMI available?
Yes. Exact monthly figures depend on the plan and the program. The counsellor call walks through what fits your situation. No external loan paperwork required for the standard EMI plan.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, full details on the Refund Policy page.

Placements & career support.

Does Techcake offer a job guarantee?
No, and we'd be skeptical of any institute that does. What we offer is real career support: resume reviews and rebuilds, LinkedIn refresh, mock interviews with recorded feedback, and direct referrals through the team's networks. Final hiring decisions are always the employer's.
What does the career support include?
For Career Program and internship completers: resume rewrite with a working engineer, LinkedIn rebuild, technical and HR mock interviews, direct partner referrals, and lifetime alumni community access (Slack + WhatsApp).
Where do alumni land?
Across DevOps, SRE, cloud, and security roles at companies in India and overseas. The Placements page has examples (data being updated regularly).

For college students & colleges.

I'm a BTech / BCA / MCA student, can I join?
Yes. See the College Internship page for the path that fits your year and your discipline.
Does the program satisfy my college's mandatory internship requirement?
In most cases yes, formal acceptance depends on your college's policy. We provide documentation that satisfies most departments. Ask us for a sample letter of intent if needed.
My college is interested in a partnership, how does that work?
An MoU-based tie-up that places a cohort into one or more project-training streams. Contact us to scope cohort size, internship mix, timeline, and progress reporting.
